Northamptonshire
Computer Recycling Project

Getting people with learning difficulties
computers they can use!

A big thank you to all the individuals, companies
and organisations that have donated computers!

Our Aim

Our project aims to get all people with learning difficulties, who would like them, computers they can use at home, at work or whereever they spend time.

Do you have a computer for us?

Please note that our computer recycling scheme is currently suspended until we move into larger premises - in the meantime if you have computers you wish to recycle we would recommend that you offer them on the Freecycle Network.

For more information please visit

http://www.freecycle.org.

There are links to local Freecycles all over the Uk and the rest of the world. Our local Northampton Freecycle Network can be found at

We need computers and computer equipment which you no longer need.

If you have old computers sitting around doing nothing or if you are upgrading your equipment and no longer have any use for them please contact Central England People First.

We will take the machines off your hands, refurbish them and then lend them to people with learning difficulties. Please see below as to what type of computers are useful to our project.

If you can help please either e-mail us at

What computers do we need?

We recycle Pentium PCs of 800 MHz or above or equivalents. We are especially interested in recycling Laptops.

We also need printers, speakers, sound cards, modems, monitors, scanners, mice, keyboards, cables, motherboards, memory, disk drives, cd roms and any other computer equipment which can help us to provide complete systems to people with learning difficulties.

Monitors need to be in working condition.

Do you want to help in other ways?

There are several ways in which you can help us. Volunteering is one of the most important ways. We need volunteers to help with the following jobs:

1. Picking up and dropping computers off.

2. Repairing computers.

3. Helping us find donations of computers and/or software.

If you are interested please either e-mail us at northants@peoplefirst.org.uk
or ring us on 01604 721 666

Who are we?

Central England People First is an organisation of people with learning difficulties which supports people with learning difficulties to speak up for themselves.

Computers are one important tool which people with learning difficulties can use to speak up for themselves.

Central England People First is taking an international lead in getting people with learning difficulties communicating around the world using the Internet.

In 1996 we started 2 internet mailing lists. We are using text, voice and video to talk with people with learning difficulties around the world.
